Homemade Biscuits Recipe
Emily Hartwell
These homemade biscuits are soft on the inside, lightly crisp on the outside, and full of buttery flavor. They are easy to make with basic pantry ingredients and come together quickly, making them perfect for breakfast, dinner, or as a side dish. Freshly baked biscuits taste best when served warm with butter, honey, or jam.

- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Sugar
- Salt
- Cold unsalted butter
- Cold milk or buttermilk
Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
Add cold butter to the bowl and work it into the flour using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture looks crumbly.
Pour in the cold milk and gently mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and gently press it into a thick rectangle.
Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers, then press it down again.
Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them close together on the baking tray.
Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
