- 1 12-ounce / 340g loaf Italian or French bread
- ½ cup 8 Tbsp; 113g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves fresh garlic finely minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese optional for cheesy topping
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese optional
- Pinch of red pepper flakes optional for garnish
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Cut the bread loaf in half lengthwise. Place cut sides up on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese if using.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
