Ingredients
  

  • 1 12-ounce / 340g loaf Italian or French bread
  • ½ cup 8 Tbsp; 113g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese optional for cheesy topping
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Cut the bread loaf in half lengthwise. Place cut sides up on the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.

  • Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese if using.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
